Club History

Fulbourn Institute F.C. was formed in 1921 and spent most of the first decade in Division Two of the County League. When the leagues were re-organised in 1931-1932 Fulbourn were placed in Division 1A. Most of the immediate post war era was spent in Division 1A but by the mid sixties the club were in the top flight. In 1971 Fulbourn Institute took the Premier Division title for the first time, 2003-04 and 2004-05 saw us win the title again. Although League honours have been limited the club has always done well in cup competitions, winning the Premier League Cup in 1985, 1990, 2003-04 and 2004-05.

As well as two football pitches (G, H) and a training area (F) the sports ground also has three all weather tennis courts (E) as well as two concrete courts (J), a cricket pitch (I) and a grass bowls green (D), and for the children a fenced play area (B). The four changing rooms (C) are equiped with thier own showers. Half time tea will be served at a minimal charge, and the club has its own social club (A) with a good range of refreshments and snacks for all to enjoy. The football club obtained a grant of £14,500 from the F.A. to help the Parish Council develop this area of land.Three and a half acres (K) for mini-soccer pitches.

The Village of Fulbourn

The name Fulbourn is derived from the Anglo-Saxon 'Fugolburna' meaning 'a stream frequented by birds'.
The village is located 3 miles south of Cambridge and covers an area of 5270 acres. The community consists of 4,800 (estimated 2001) residents who enjoy the local ammenities of Five Pubs, a Chinese and a Fish & Chip shop. The supermarket is opposite a garage and along the same street as the butcher shop.
